Frederick Law Olmstead Parks
“One of Buffalo's most treasured cultural assets, this public urban forest is maintained, preserved and restored by the Buffalo Olmsted Parks Conservancy (BOPC), in a successful public-private partnership with the city of Buffalo. We invite you to learn more about these historic open spaces, about their creator, Frederick Law Olmsted, the father of landscape architecture, and about the BOPC. “ Visit Site
Niagara Falls State Park
“A North American natural wonder, Niagara Falls flows with scenic might through Niagara Falls State Park. And just beyond its waterfall vistas, Niagara is filled with splendid discoveries and fantastic attractions.”
It is often said that the USA has the Falls but that Canada has the view.
By driving north on the 190 to exit 21, to the Niagara Falls State Park on the US side- there are many good views of the Falls and some amazing walks right up to the water's edge. You can take a boat ride right up into the falls.
But, for the best views you will need to travel into Canada. You will need a full passport or NYS enhanced driver's license to cross the border. Again, take the 190 to exit 21 and follow the signs for the Rainbow Bridge and Canada. The crossing can take anything from ten minutes to half an hour, or more.
Good views can be had from the car, as you follow the Parkway with the Niagara River on your left, but to park, walk, and take pictures you will need to drive past the Falls and park in the official car park, $20.00.
